WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONDITIONER & A MASK

We are often asked what is the difference conditioner & a mask? If I use conditioner then do I need to use a mask?  Here’s the answers; As we enter our 40’s, our hair starts to become drier, duller and thinner.  Our scalp can sometimes lack the proper nutrients they need to produce healthy strands of hair.

Aging hair can benefit from using both but it knowing the difference between them which is the important thing.

A conditioner is used the most and helps make the strands soft and more manageable whilst hydrating your scalp at the same time. A good quality conditioner will prevent your hair from drying out, reduce frizz and stop it from breaking and leaves your hair tangle free.  It’s on for 1-2 minutes but it’s important to choose the right one for your hair type.

A mask is ideal for bringing your hair back to life and help greatly with dryness and dullness.  A mask typically has higher levels of conditioning ingredients such a butters and oils that nourish your scalp and hair follicles.  They also add strength to your hair.  It’s recommended to use a mask once a week but you can use them more if you feel your hair needs it.  Using them too often can lead to build-up and can weigh your hair down so you need to be mindful of this.  Masks are usually left on for approximately 20 minutes and are applied root to tip.  Just like conditioners, hair masks address different hair concerns so it’s important to choose the right one for your hair and the problem that you are trying to solve.

Do you need to use both?  The answer is yes as they both do different thing.  If in doubt, use a conditioner every time you wash and then swap it out once a week for a mask.
